I have been in the trade
for 30 years and served my apprenticeship in a small workshop in Newbury where
the work was very specialised. I left there to become self employed and worked
on all types of jobs ranging from industrial work (curved teak windows for Abbey
National Building in Reading - shuttering for Proto type building for Blue
Circle Cement Company at Aldermaston - cut roof for MacDonald's Newbury)
to extensions for domestic houses where I would cut the roof on and do both the
first & second fix inside. I moved to Bath in 1984 where I mostly did renovation
work and eventually built a customer base which involved furniture again, so I
can confidently say I have covered every corner of the wood trade and there is
no job which I have not had experience in involving wood.
All the furniture that I make has been hand crafted with
traditional tools and attention to detail.
The client will usually have an idea of the type of furniture they would like,
and with a list of client needs I will design the furniture to suit, whether it
be free standing of totally fitted.
One of the biggest advantages I can offer is personal attention, I talk with the
client I design the piece I build it and I fit it and there are never any
mistakes, unlike the bigger companies where your furniture may be handled by
five or six people who all have to understand your needs.
All of the work shown on this web
site has been handmade by myself, although I will fit pre-made
kitchens bedrooms and bathrooms etc I never take photo of them, I only take
photos of work that is bespoke.
